What Is The Meaning Of Life?

Image
This is the third and final unit of our Humanities course, called Journalism. In this unit, we learned about photography and how a photo can have a significant impact on the world. Our Field Experience included, visiting Roosevelt University and looking at an array of images with meaning. For this Action Project we had to take a photo and correlate it to the meaning of life. I chose my mom because I feel so has a gentle outlook on life. (Kelly and SDC posing, 2018) It is a huge question in today’s society; what is the meaning of life? We’ve all probably asked ourselves this time and time again. Although this can be a difficult question, it isn’t impossible to answer. Every single persons meaning of life can be different, in fact it should be. With as many people living in this world, it is certain there is no one right answer. This is just another example for how we as humans are all wired differently. Most people’s lives are lived based on their values and morals they hav...

Senior Fundraising!

Senior Fundraising!   After learning more about fundraising in Economics, the seniors of GCE Lab School decided to take on the challenge. This term, we worked in groups to create a successful system to fundraise for our senior trip as well as charity. In this presentation you will see the work it took to create our senior store, and how we have been keeping up with it. Before doing this project I never realized all of the work that had to be put into creating a business like this. The seniors are excited to continue this process of running a store and raising money.

How Has Oprah Become Such An Influential Woman?

This is the third unit of Journalism. Over the past couple of weeks we have been looking further into how and why sound can impact the people listening. I chose Oprah Winfrey for my influential speaker because her story is inspiring to many. After living in poverty growing up, Oprah always knew she had a purpose in life. She was going to do whatever she could to create success. Oprah has used her own story to help motivate others to find their calling in life. She is known as one of the richest African Americans in the 20th century. I think her voice has been so influential in society because she keeps things real. She is willing to talk about anything. You can hear the passion in her voice.

The True Cost Of Education

This is unit one of the Economics course. For the past couple of weeks we have been learning about supply/demand and how it plays out in the market place. For our action project, I had two choose two paths to take for college. We had to research the cost of college and how long it would take to pay off. We also had to choose a career path which gave us an idea of how much money we would make in a lifetime. Overall I enjoyed this unit. I liked it because it was very prevalent to my life right now. I hope you enjoy my project! https://soundcloud.com/sydney-canning/my-college-career-choice

A School Shooting In North Suburbs

This is unit one of the Humanities course in Journalism. In this unit we learned about the news and how it can be portrayed differently. What is on social media is not always true and it can be perceived differently by different people. For our FE we went to the Congress Plaza Hotel to see a demonstration about an issue about a paying issue. For this AP, we had to make a story about a issue we thought was news worthy and interview someone on it to see their point of view. I interviewed my two friends and they gave me some good perspective and insight. Overall, this was an ok project and I hope you enjoy it! In Glenview IL, Glenbrook South High School will be increasing security after a threat of a shooting. On Thursday, September 20, 2018 two students reported seeing a threat written on the back of a classroom desk around 2:30 pm that said: “There will be a school shooting Sept 25, 2018.” The principal of GBS sent an email to all parents and students Friday afternoon discussing the saf...
